Darkness does not discriminate, but neither does the light. So, like a lantern chasing away a shadow, my heart would be that this series would penetrate the darkness of what depression has been doing and bring hope to lives, marriages, and families. It’s time to bring light to a darkness that affects over 18 million adults every year. It’s time to bring hope to a largely ignored topic that claims more lives than homicide. It’s time to normalize vulnerability. It’s time to normalize getting the professional help we need. It’s time to recognize the healing virtue that Christ brings.

“XC” is the roman numeral for “90” and September 2023 marks 90 years since the start of a dream that was first realized in the hearts of 6 people. In 1931, that group had a vision for a work to begin in Kalamazoo. They called the Assemblies of God to see if they would send someone to come and start a church to reach this city. Asa Miller answered that call and came here to begin what would ultimately be known at Kalamazoo First Assembly of God. What God began in the basement of a home, He has continued 90 years later to pour out His presence and impact people’s lives. Today, we can look back and see not only God’s faithfulness to our church but we can see with anticipation that the best has yet to come.

Life is better in community. This is how God designed us. And this is how we should be operating life in. Dealing with relationships can be one of life’s greatest gifts and one of life’s greatest challenges. From marriage to friendships, it takes work, and like any other worthwhile challenge, it’s better with help. And that’s our heart for “Me, We, Us.” We want to bring a series that gives practical and spiritual applications for married couples as well as for those other relational connections we have in life.

It’s normally used to assert that important matters should be dealt with before other things. It is a step back to make sure that the top priority stays the top priority. One of the areas that can easily fall prey to operating without the top priority in mind is our finances. This series is our opportunity to look at God’s generous heart and how we can walk in that manner. Being generous is more than just giving, it’s a mindset that truly comes from the heart. In scripture we see God take little and make much of it. Jesus also said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Generosity is a blessing and is in the heart of God, and so it should also be in the hearts of His people. How has God been generous to you? What are some ways you can be more generous? This is the series where we’ll explore the heart God has for giving and how we play a part in the kingdom through it.
